COORDINATION OF ALL TECHNICAL TRANSLATIONS AND EVER-DECREASING TRANSLATION COSTS
Bystronic Laser AG, from Niederönz in Switzerland, manufactures innovative laser cutting equipment for the sheet metal processing industry and water jet systems for cutting almost all materials. Its 26 service and sales companies located around the world constantly require translations of technical documentation.
Qualified translators and software tools
Smaller, non-specialized translation bureaus are not in the position to do this. For one thing, translators with a technical background are required, and for another, software tools capable of handling large amounts of data are crucial. “Many cheaper translators work with Word. They send you a load of documents, and often they don’t come back in the same order”, says Deputy Head of Documentation Thomas Volkart, describing their dilemma. Coordinating individual translators, revising the translated documents and the post-editing work necessary before they can be sent to our offices would be an enormous task.
Complete management and coordination from one provider
The successful collaboration between Bystronic Laser AG and MEINRAD.cc goes back to 1988. “Meinrad Reiterer takes over responsibility for the whole project. He receives the complete documentation from us, filters out the sections which need to be translated using his translation memory system, assigns the translations to his team of highly qualified translators and delivers the entire package to us. This ensures consistency and continuity”, reports a highly satisfied Thomas Volkart.
Reduced costs and increased quality with the translation memory system
All the translations MEINRAD.cc has ever done for Bystronic are stored in their translation memory system. With every new project the system automatically recognizes which sections have already been translated and which haven’t. “MEINRAD.cc then only invoices us for the sections of text which actually needed to be translated. The longer we work with MEINRAD.cc, the lower our translation costs become.”
We also save on the costs of acquiring and maintaining our own translation tools, which given the number of translations we need would cost us around 2000 francs extra every month.
“Meanwhile, the quality of the translations gets better and better as the translators they use understand our business and our products more and more”, comments Thomas Volkart on the value of their collaboration. “Mr. Reiterer offers excellent value for money. He coordinates everything for us, and this helps us make savings of between 800 and 2000 francs every month depending on how many translation projects we have.”
Solution-oriented collaboration and punctuality
Bystronic also values Meinrad Reiterer’s determination to find solutions by working together. “He is extremely customer-focused, always finds the solution and delivers everything just the way we need it. Moreover, his punctuality rate is 98 per cent. This matters, as we have our own delivery deadlines to meet.”
